The following is a report on the Candidates for the 2011 General Election in the City of Columbus, Indiana. Information is open to the public at the Bartholomew County Courthouse. This post is only concerning candidates and their criminal records. Defendant court cases were looked at. Small claims, divorce, and such issues are not covered in this post, though some pertain to some of the candidates. Dismissed cases in which the defendant was found not guilty is also not published, but deferred prosecutions are.
The following is by office and in alphabetic order of the candidates' last name. Candidates' real names as they appear on the election roster were used to look up records.

- Tax Warrant filed by the State of Indiana on 8/30/2011 for taxes owed totaling $596.00. Total to collect $737.89. Warrant currently pending.
- Check deception filed by the State of Indiana 7/15/1997. Scalf deferred prosecution. (In an article in The Republic, she detailed that she agreed to pay the damages to avoid prosecution, thus the deferred prosecution)
CLERK-TREASURER
(Martha) Sue Breeding (D)
-Check deception filed by the State of Indiana on 1/9/1996. Breeding, too, deferred prosecution.

City Council At-Large
Sondra K. Bolte (D)

Aaron J. Hankins (R)
- Conversion (Class A Misdemeanor) filed by the State of Indiana on 5/31/2000. Hankins, through council, took a guilty plea and plead guilty to the crime of conversion, a form of theft. Sentenced to 1 year in Bartholomew County Jail, 100 hours restitution, and 1 year probation.

Where's the label for Kristin Brown?
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question. It comes down to limitations with Blogspot. users only get so many characters for labels. So I used labels for the most noticeable candidates on this report. Aaron Hankins, Priscilla Scalf, Dascal Bunch, and Sue Breeding. If you notice, there are two REpublicans and two democrats. Also in the labels are their crimes or their related record topic.
ReplyDeleteI believe this was the most effective use of labels. I also included MAyor and City Council so that people looking for Columbus Mayor or City Council might get to this page too.
